El profesor Claudio Galeno-Ibaceta presenta en el seminario del Public Health Group en el Congreso de la Union Internacional de Arquitectos, Rio de janeiro, 2021. El día martes 20 de julio el profesor presentara, en una sesión pre grabada, su trabajo titulado “La arquitectura de la epidemia: la peste bubónica y su impacto en la profilaxis urbana en el norte de Chile a inicios del siglo XX”, que formará parte de la sesión 8: Desenho e paisagem na arquitetura hospitalar latinoamericana / Design and landscape in Latin American hospital architecture, que se transmitirá de 10:20 a 11:10 (hora Rio de Janeiro). El trabajo del profesor de la Escuela de Arquitectura UCN es parte de la investigación Fondecyt 11180673: Estudio histórico de la arquitectura hospitalaria y equipamientos de la salud en ciudades puerto del norte de Chile: Arica, Iquique y Antofagasta, 1880-1967.

Speaker bio: Dr. Paulo Ernani Gadelha Vieira is a renowned physician and public health expert in Brazil. He graduated in Medicine from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), and received his Master in Social Medicine from UERJ and Ph.D. in Public Health from the National School of Public Health, Brazil. Dr. Paulo Gadelha’s research areas include but not limited to the construction of medical care and the history of diseases. He was the president of the Oswald Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) between 2009 and 2016, and currently coordinates the Healthy and Sustainable Territories Program at Fiocruz. He has presided over the Associations of Resident Physicians of Rio de Janeiro and the National Association of Resident Physicians. He was responsible for the creation of the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz (COC), where he served as the director from 1985 to 1997, and the general rapporteur of the 12th National Health Conference. He has been a member of the Intersectoral Science and Technology Committee of the National Health Council since 2001.
