This is IBPSA-England's first national conference, organised in association with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and hosted by Loughborough University. BSO12 provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge on the development and application of building performance simulation to the optimum design and operation of buildings. The conference has three broad themes:

• New performance models and simulation methods
• Procedures for optimizing design and operation
• Real-world case studies
